Using time-series analysis in their cross-sectional study, authors Gina Liu and PISC Executive Director Douglas Wiebe have discovered a possible association between mass shooting and changes in gun purchases. With the objective of determining factors associated with gun purchasing changes, the study identified media coverage and fatalities as having major impacts, and states that exploring further into this connection can have major implications for public health response to future gun violence.
