Blight Abatement of Vacant Land and Crime in New Orleans


When Hurricane Katrina tore through New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2005, many properties and neighborhoods were devastated. The Fight the Blight program was started in 2014 in response, and aims to renovate areas in six different neighborhoods -- in this study, PISC Senior Scholars and past trainees Michelle Kondo and Sara Jacoby and PISC past trainee Christopher Morrison examine the effect on crime the Fight the Blight program has on the New Orleans community.
