Imaging the Injured Child

As technology continues to progress and diversify, the characterization of medical devices in hospitals and clinics has become increasingly necessary. In the context of pediatric care, the ability to quickly and accurately select the optimal imaging modality depends on characterizations such as these. In this study, Dr. Patrick McGovern of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, in conjunction with PISC Senior Scholar Michael Nance, discusses the pros and cons of various algorithms designed to maximize patient health and limit failures when dealing with optimal imaging modalities -- an analysis that could lead to less health risks and less unnecessary medical costs.
