Child Passenger Safety


Although child safety in motor vehicles has improved dramatically, vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for children 4 years and older. In this policy statement, PISC Senior Scholar Dennis Durbin and Benjamin Hoffman provide various recommendations for best practices with regards to optimizing safety in passenger vehicles for children from birth through adolescence. These recommendations are presented such that pediatricians will be able to convey the same information to their patients and families, which the American Academy of Pediatrics urges all pediatricians to promote.
