The Location and Timing of Failure to Rescue Events Across a Statewide Trauma System

When it comes to failure to rescue events (FTR), or deaths after complications, characterization is essential to creating solutions that will reduce mortalities. By analyzing databases that included information like hospital ward location and post-admission day, a team that included PISC Executive Board member Daniel Holena concluded that a majority of FTR events occured in the ICU ward and that most were attributed to pulmonary or cardiac complications.
