Louisiana Begins Using Netflix Subscription Model to Buy Hepatitis C Medication

Louisiana state legislators have recently been seeking pharmaceutical companies and providers that are interested in subscription-based payments -- such payments would be set fees paid by the state to providers in exchange for unlimited access to Hepatitis C medication for those enrolled in Medicaid or incarcerated. This exchange, dubbed the 'Netflix' model due to its similarity to exchanges that entertainment giant Netflix runs, is set to treat more than 10,000 patients by the end of 2020 and limit the spending on Hepatitis C drugs to $35 million or less.
