U.S. Prosecutors Sue To Stop Nation's First Supervised Injection Site For Opioids

The nonprofit Safehouse, which has been hoping to open the nation's first ever supervised injection facility for opioids in Philadelphia, has been faced with growing opposition -- just recently, federal prosecutors launched a civil lawsuit against them, claiming that a injection facility would violate the Controlled Substances Act. An important issue, the verdict of this case could impact the outcomes of Philadelphia's drug-using population and set precedents for other major cities considering similar proposals.
