Reducing The Need for Trauma Transfusions

Giving low-dose arginine vasopressin (AVP) to patients with trauma and hemorrhagic shock cuts the volume of blood products required to stabilize them by half, according to a new study lead by PISC Senior Scholar Carrie Sims MD, PhD. 

 

"The results of this trial suggest a promising way to reduce the amount of blood needed to save the lives of patients with life-threatening injuries.” Stated Sims.
