New "sense4safety" Tool

A team of University of Pennsylvania (including PISC Senior Scholars George Demiris, PhD, and Nancy A. Hodgson, PhD, RN, and PISC Executive Committee member Therese S. Richmond, PhD, RN) and University of Missouri researchers has recently released a new tool called sense4safety. As their website describes, "sense4safety is a technology-supported nursing driven intervention to identify escalating risks for falls real-time through in-home passive sensor monitoring, employ machine learning to inform individualized alerts for fall risk, and link 'at risk' older adults with a nurse tele-coach who will guide them in implementing evidence-based individualized plans to reduce fall risk." The tool includes components like in-home assessment and action, education, passive monitoring and communication, alerts, and coaching via video conference.
