Dr. Ashley Z. Ritter is an Assistant Professor at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College of The City University of New York. She is a nurse practitioner and translational research scientist with experience in clinical, academic, and community-based settings. Dr. Ritter’s research focuses on the coordination of care for older people with complex, overlapping medical and social needs including substance use disorder, dementia, and housing instability. She engages providers and community stakeholders in designing, implementing, and evaluating integrated care models for people with multifactorial needs. In this work, she focuses on collaboration across providers and therapeutic alignment with the lived experience of the people they serve. Her research is driven by her commitment to ensuring all older people have access to financial, social, and health stability as they age. Dr. Ritter received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and completed post-doctoral training in 2021 in the National Clinician Scholars Program where she also received a master’s degree in health policy. She maintains her clinical practice providing home health primary, palliative, and hospice care to older adults.
