Dr. Christen Rexing, PhD, MPH is the Executive Director for the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR), a professional organization that provides leadership and fosters excellence in the science of violence and injury prevention and care. Dr. Rexing is a firearm injury prevention researcher, educator, and advocate with over 15 years of experience in the field and classroom. Her research focuses on health policy development, adoption, and evaluation, particularly at the state and federal levels. Her advocacy work includes education, outreach, and partner development. Prior to joining SAVIR as their Executive Director, she was faculty at La Salle University and worked on curriculum development, winning awards in recognition of her teaching and partnership efforts. As the Executive Director of SAVIR, she works to advance the mission of the organization, building partnerships to advance IVP work, advocating for funding and evidence-based practices and policies, designing and supporting educational and network opportunities, and building the pipeline of IVP researchers. She is actively engaged in several regional and national networks focused on IVP and gun violence prevention, such as Code Red, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the Injury & Violence Prevention Network, and Delaware County Vision Zero. Dr. Rexing maintains a connection to the classroom as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania. She also serves her local community as a township councilor.
