Focus Areas: Opioid and Overdose

Jose Reyes, MD is a current National Research Service Award Research Fellow and Clinical Instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Reyes’s research focuses on improving and expanding care for pregnant patients in the acute care setting. He is interested in improving the treatment of opioid use disorder in pregnant patients presenting to an emergency department setting. He is pursuing a Master of Science in Health Policy Research at the Perelman School of Medicine and practices emergency medicine clinically at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Reyes received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a minor in creative writing at Texas State University, followed by his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his training in emergency medicine at Cook County Hospital where he served as chief resident with a focus on educational and administrative development.
