Contributions of ACEs and the Built & Social Environments to Health Outcomes after Black Men Experience a Serious Injury

This study seeks to reduce health disparities affecting Black men by examining the relative contribution of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and neighborhood factors to pre-injury health, the occurrence of injury, and post-injury outcomes, and subsequently evaluating findings with stakeholders to inform prevention and recovery strategies.

This work isn’t just for Philadelphia—it’s designed to be useful in other cities too. The lessons learned here can help violence prevention efforts across the country.
