What We Learned from Violence Prevention Professionals about Social Media

By conducting focus groups with violence prevention professionals in Philadelphia, researchers sought to understand what they’ve observed and recognized about the role of social media in real-life violence. This includes how social media can create or escalate conflict to reach violence or interfere with recovery from violent injury, but also how social media is seen as a positive influence or has the potential for promoting wellness and safety. The findings from these preliminary focus groups are summarized in this infographic. This work was supported by a grant from the Fund for a Safer Future.
