Thank you to everyone who connected with the Penn Injury Science Center at SAVIR 2026!
The trainee community at Penn was radiant at the annual injury and violence prevention conference – from posters, to oral presentations, to a family-style lunch in downtown Providence – the future felt bright for injury science at Penn.
Awards for Outstanding Work
Adi Khurana received the Outstanding Student Paper Award for his work with Sara Solomon on an analysis of youth gun violence that pointed towards hours of higher risk for various age groups.
Katie O’Neill received the Student and Early Career Outstanding Science Oral Presentation Award for “Missed opportunities: Healthcare Contacts for Violently Injured Patients across a Major Metropolitan Area” from the team including Elinore Kaufman, Joseph Kern, Ruth Abaya, Rodney Babb, Pilar Ocampo, and more
Safety on Display
Bike safety gear (and mints) flew off the Penn Injury Science Center’s exhibitor table. Andrew Belfiglio invited conference attendees to learn about the working happening around the center and outfit their bikes with bells and lights to keep them safe on the road. Thanks to all who stopped by and learned how to get engaged with the Penn Injury Science Center.
